Il workshop si svilupperà indagando le tematiche alla base della mostra di Derek MF Di Fabio che inaugurerà ad Luglio 2021 ad Almanac Inn. La pratica artistica di Di Fabio esplora il quotidiano adottando pratiche partecipative come elemento costitutivo delle sue opere e come base per un dialogo con il pubblico e come mezzo educativo e ricreativo. I partecipanti saranno guidati e incoraggiati a riflettere su alcuni temi chiave: - la paura; - come si può risolvere un conflitto; La paura verrà intesa sia come paura personale (sogni, incubi, timori) che sociale: investigheremo le leggende, tradizioni orali e il “vociferare”. Come una società o una comunità reagisce alla paura? Come cambia la vita in città quando subentra la paura? Come paure passate hanno costruito il nostro presente? Il workshop vuole investigare - prima con il gruppo di giovani partecipanti e successivamente con un gruppo di adulti - come si può risolvere un conflitto all’interno dello spazio urbano e privato. Un’automobile sarà il mezzo che guiderà la narrazione di questa esplorazione: un’auto è uno spazio privato - protetto, chiuso, personale - che si muove nello spazio pubblico e comune, interagendo con i corpi e gli abitanti della città. Occupando e muovendosi in uno spazio condiviso l’auto deve rispettare ciò che gli è attorno, non solo il traffico; la sua presenza ha effetto su scale di misura più ampie, ad esempio sull’ambiente e sul paesaggio urbano. Un conflitto può nascere dallo scontro tra spazio privato e pubblico, e può scaturirsi dall’incontro di qualcosa di sconosciuto. Giocando con scale di misura diverse e alterando la nostra percezione da singolare a plurale, da particolare a globale, la narrazione si espanderà dalla città all’universo, introducendo idee semplificate di fisica e scienze naturali - per permetterci di pensare il quotidiano da prospettive diverse.
Obiettivi: Tramite disegni e pitture con colori naturali, registrazioni vocali, e attività fisiche, il workshop produrrà testi scritti e mappe di ragionamenti, domande e possibili soluzioni. Vuole creare uno spazio d'incontro e riflessione.
Date: 15, 16, 17 luglio.

il workshop è rivolto a ragazzi di tutte le età dalle 16.30 alle 18.
Dalle 19 alle 20.30 ad adulti.
Durata: 3 pomeriggi. 90 minuti ad incontro.

Il workshop si svolgerà all’aperto nel terrazzo di Almanac Inn. Si prega di portare una mascherina e di mantenere un metro di distanza tra i partecipanti. Verranno comunicate le norme di sicurezza ad ogni partecipante.
The workshop will investigate the themes at the foundation of Derek MF Di Fabio's exhibition opening in July 2021 at Almanac Inn. Di Fabio's artistic practice explores the everyday by adopting participatory practices as a constitutive element of his works, as a basis for developing a dialogue with the public and as an educational and recreational medium.
The participants will be guided and encouraged to reflect on some key issues of our present: fear - as a conflict that can be resolved; Fear will be understood both as personal (nightmares, worries, anxieties) and social fear (we will investigate legends, oral traditions and 'rumours').
How does a society or a community react to fear? How does life change in the city when fear takes over? How did past fears build our present? The workshop aims to investigate - first with a group of young participants and later with a group of adults - how a conflict can be resolved within an urban and private space. A car will be the vehicle that will guide the narration of this exploration: a car is a private space - protected, closed, personal - that moves in a public and common space, interacting with different bodies and the inhabitants of the city.
By occupying and moving within a shared space, a car must respect its surroundings, not just the traffic; its presence has an effect on larger scales, for example on the environment and the urban landscape. A conflict can arise from the clash between private and public space, and can arise from the encounter of something unknown. Playing with different dimensions and altering our perceptions from singular to plural, from particular to global, the narrative will expand from the city to the universe, introducing simplified ideas of physics and natural sciences - to allow us to think about everyday life from different perspectives.
Objectives: through drawings and paintings with natural colors, voice recordings, and physical activities, the workshop will produce written texts and maps, questions and possible solutions. It aims to be a space for encounters and reflections.
Dates: 15, 16, 17 July.
Participants and time slots: the workshop is conceived for both young people (kids of all ages) from 16.30 to 18. And for adults from 19 to 20.30.
Duration: 3 afternoons. 90 minutes each.
