On Tuesday, 27 January 2026, we invite you to our library to take part in a reading group focused on key texts that have inspired the practice and research of Riar Rizaldi for the film Fanfictie: Volcanology, on view in our exhibition space until 1 February 2026.
During the evening, we will read and discuss selected excerpts from The Carrier Bag Theory of Fiction by Ursula K. Le Guin and Can Thought Go on Without a Body? by Jean-François Lyotard.
Both essays propose a radical rethinking of narrative and human thought: starting from prehistory, Le Guin challenges canonical literary models by replacing the figure of the hero with an inclusive narrative form—the “carrier bag”—capable of holding a plurality of stories and experiences; Lyotard, by contrast, begins from the end of the world, reflecting on the fate of thought beyond biological life, decentering the human point of view and questioning the future conditions of language and philosophy.

Martedì 27 gennaio 2026 vi invitiamo nella nostra biblioteca per partecipare ad un gruppo di lettura di alcuni testi fondamentali che hanno ispirato la pratica e le ricerche di Riar Rizaldi per il film Fanfictie: Volcanology, in mostra nel nostro spazio espositivo fino al 1 febbraio 2026.
Durante la serata leggeremo e commenteremo estratti da La teoria letteraria del sacchetto della spesa di Ursula K. Le Guin e Se si può pensare senza corpo di Jean-François Lyotard.
I due saggi propongono un radicale ripensamento della narrazione e del pensiero umano: Le Guin, partendo dalla preistoria, mette in discussione i modelli letterari canonici sostituendo alla figura dell’eroe una forma narrativa inclusiva ( il “sacco della spesa”) capace di contenere una pluralità di storie ed esperienze; Lyotard, muovendo invece dalla fine del mondo, riflette sul destino del pensiero oltre la vita biologica, decentrando il punto di vista umano e interrogando le condizioni future del linguaggio e della filosofia.
