Giulia Damiani
Residency Program24 September—06 October 2025
Turin
Almanac is pleased to announce the launch of its new residency program, which will take place within the studio of our new space in Corso Novara 39, Turin.
The program opens with the residency of Giulia Damiani, an Amsterdam-based artist whose practice develops between text and performance. Her work often gives rise to provocative performative situations, through which she raises questions on urgent issues such as violence, language, and mythical and ecological territories.
Her most recent production Heart Brake (2024) was developed at Centrale Fies and presented internationally with the support of Mondriaan Fonds, AFK and Voordekunst; it will be staged again in December 2025 at Frascati, Amsterdam. In 2022 she completed her practice-based PhD, Porous Places: Eruptive Bodies, in the Art Department at Goldsmiths College (London), writing extensively on the feminist group Le Nemesiache from Naples and reactivating their work. She curated the book Ritual and Display, published by If I Can’t Dance in 2022. She currently teaches at the Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam.
During these weeks Giulia will inhabit Almanac’s spaces, with access also to our library collection. Here she will continue the research for her performative project Apology for Fire, initiated in August 2025 during the Atlas residency at ImPulsTanz, focusing on developing the script and the sonic repertoire of the performance.
This is only the first in a series of residencies and projects that will take shape in the coming months within Almanac’s new space.
