Ethereal Society of Poetry and Allison Grimaldi Donahue
Rebirth and Decay: Poems25 February 2024
Turin
Poetry reading group, h. 18:30
Rebirth and Decay: Poems is a reading group of Ethereal Society of Poetry. For the occasion, ESP invited Allison Grimaldi Donahue, an American poet and translator based in Bologna, to curate a collection of poems on rebirth and decay. The theme has been interpreted as the constant process in which beings, human and non-human, find themselves: an ontological state of becoming Other that never ceases. It essentially contains all that constitutes life as it is. The approach of spring has prompted a reflection on the states of nature, on the growing pains each year reproposes, as if to remind us that we too aren’t finished.
Poems will be read that reflect this ongoing plastic process, in its beauty but also in its violence. The poems presented, all North American, were written by: Robert Creeley, Mary Ruefle, Etel Adnan, Frank Lima, Alice Notley, James Schuyler, Fanny Howe, Myung Mi Kim, Kimberly Alidio, Norma Cole, William Carlos Williams. The workshop will conclude with a writing time.
Ethereal Society of Poetry (ESP) is a project conceived by Davide La Montagna and Deborah Martino, born from the desire to raise awareness, promote, and make poetry accessible through collective and participative readings.
Rebirth and Decay: Poems is the fifth event of Vibrant Natures. On Decay and Rebirth and will be in italian. The next event is on Sunday, March 2nd, h. 15 at Almanac Inn, Via Reggio 13, Turin, with Micro regali di strada, workshop by Noura Tafeche in response to Soukaina Abrour's exhibition.
